What do 70 bottles of Pimms, a lot of coconuts, big green beanbags, a pick n’ mix stall, numerous sticks of candy floss and cones of popcorn have in common? Yes, the Green Park Summer Fete 2015!
The sun was certainly shining on Green Park on Thursday 18 June for our annual Summer Fete. Roughly 1,400 people attended from across the Park and local community to enjoy our quintessentially English fete. As well as Hook – a – Duck, Coconut Shy and Tin Can Alley, Green Park Occupiers were able to take part in an online tombola with lots of splendid prizes on offer ranging from a bottle of whiskey, a water pistol, tea for two at Hilton Reading, to a gardener for 4 hours donated by our landscaping team, a £100 Amazon voucher donated by our cleaning team, 2 x £50 M&S vouchers donated by our M & E team and a jeroboam of red wine, donated by our Security team. Liveperson kindly put on a table top bottle raffle in aid of Naomi House, and Nuffield Health gave on the spot Health MOTs.
Refreshments were provided by Dan’s Kitchen, No Bull Paella, and Chillidogs, as well as the much needed tea and cake tent organised by Byte from Gather & Gather. To quench the thirst of our attendees, there was a Pimms stall and plenty of clear and cloudy lemonade.
The Green Park Car Valet was washing cars for free in the car park and Amanda Morris, Green Park’s Holistic Therapist was on hand to give relaxing massages.
It was fabulous to see so many people soaking in the spirit of the event and relaxing on the deckchairs and beanbags whilst listening to the Green Park Choir who brilliantly performed summery songs and local musician Calum Foad who played and sang more modern songs. There really was a relaxed and fun atmosphere to the event.
We hope all who attended enjoyed themselves and we look forward to seeing you at the next Green Park event which will be a Food Festival in Lime Square on 9 July.
The photos are on the Green Park Facebook page so feel free to tag yourselves.
