On Sunday 2nd March a record 16,000 runners descended onto Green Park to tackle the 13.1 mile course after months of training through the elements. The event began at 100 Longwater Avenue with the Green Park Challenge, which saw almost 2,000 children of all ages race 2.8km and show off their sporting abilities.
Heart FM and a band of drummers were on hand to set the runners off, and a further 10,000 spectators were seated in the Madejski Stadium ready to welcome back their friends and family as they crossed the finish line at one of Reading’s biggest sporting events. Congratulations to all the participants, including our own team of 30 Green Park runners who raised £1,211.99 for local charity Graft Thames Valley. And thank you to everyone who took part, supported and helped to make this event a great success once again. See you all next year!
The date of the 2015 Reading Half Marathon has been announced as 22nd March 2015.
