Wednesday 5 and Thursday 6 August saw the annual Green Park Open Water Swim take place in Longwater Lake.
Wednesday was for beginners to the sport, with 12 swimmers donning their wetsuits to take on either a 250m, 500m, 750m or 1km course. Although the weather was rather unpleasant at points, all completed their chosen distance with some even wanting to carry on with the sport in the future.
The sun shone on the 13 experienced swimmers who took on a 1km route on Thursday. The fastest, Chris Lowe, shaved over a minute off his winning time from last year. Well done, Chris!
Once out of the water, all of the swimmers enjoyed a well-deserved hot drink and biscuit after their adventure.
Thank you for the assistance of Dom Dos Remedios, triathlon trainer, and to Oli Williams and Andy Macaskill from My Sporting Times, who all helped put the event together and ensured the safety of the swimmers.
