We are very excited to be hosting the Rugby World Cup - the Webb Ellis Trophy - here at Green Park.
The final stage of the Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour will see the Webb Ellis Cup embark on a 75-day tour of host nation England. The tour will start in Cornwall before working its way up to the north east and then down to London and the south east.
The 100 day tour of the UK and Ireland will culminate at Twickenham Stadium on 18 September in time for the opening ceremony and the inaugural match of the tournament, England v Fiji.
As part of its tour, the Webb Ellis Trophy will be spending 25 August at Green Park for fans to come and see the cup up close and have a chance to have their photo taken with it.
The trophy will be placed in the Conference Centre at 100 Longwater Avenue from 11:00 - 15:00. Green Park occupiers will be able to see the trophy from 15:00 - 17:00.
As well as the trophy being onsite, we will also be hosting the Berkshire Rugby Festival outside 100 Brook Drive. As well as lots of activities for you to do, special guest Jonah Lomu will also be making a guest appearance.
Jonah Lomu is still regarded as the most prolific player and highest try scorer in Rugby World Cup history and now motivates and inspires a new generation. Jonah will visit Berkshire for just one day and will join all the Berkshire Rugby Clubs at Green Park in Reading to celebrate World Rugby from the inaugural RWC in1987 to RWC2015.
Update, 24 August 2015: Due to poor weather it has been decided the Berkshire Rugby Festival will not be taking place. Jonah Lomu will be in attendance at 100 Longwater Avenue and you are welcome to visit the Webb Ellis Trophy.
