Thank you to all who attended the 2015 Bat Walk & Talk on 12 August. Led by the Berkshire and South Buckinghamshire Bat Society, 62 guests learned all about the bats of Green Park. As part of our work to enhance the environment around Longwater Lake, our landscapers have put in place numerous bat boxes, encouraging the bats in the area to roost in safe places.
After an interesting presentation by Stacey Waring of the Bat Society, and meeting two live bats, a noctule bat and a natterers bat, the guests were split into groups and led on walks around Longwater Lake to see the bats flying close to the water feeding on the insects. The bats were found using bat detectors and night vision cameras set up on the lake’s embankment.
